Within the central Serengeti National Park on a private traversal area accessed through a concession agreement with the Tanzania National Parks Authority, andBeyond Serengeti Under Canvas is a mobile tented camp that positions itself according to the migration’s seasonal movements — the central Serengeti during the calving season in February and the resident wildlife period, and the northern corridors during the river-crossing migration season — providing guests with access to the Serengeti’s most spectacular wildlife events from a camp that follows the animals rather than waiting for them. The seven tented suites are set in different positions within the ecosystem across the year, with each position selected for its specific wildlife productivity at the time of the camp’s placement. The absence of permanent infrastructure means the camp can establish itself in the heart of the migration’s passage zone rather than at the edges.

Game drives from the camp access the migration herds at their most concentrated moments — the enormous calving event of the southern Serengeti in February, when up to 500,000 wildebeest calves are born within a few weeks, and the river crossing season of July and August when the herds attempt the crocodile-rich crossings of the Grumeti and Mara rivers — with the camp’s position within the national park giving vehicle access to the centre of the herds’ movement rather than the periphery. Walking safaris in the open grassland under the guidance of a senior Trails Ranger, night drives in the concession, and balloon safaris over the plains at dawn complete the programme. The campfire boma and the outdoor dining under the stars provide the evening social experience at a standard appropriate to the andBeyond brand’s commitment to quality at every point of the guest experience.

andBeyond Serengeti Under Canvas’s conservation contribution is expressed through the camp’s mobile model — which leaves no permanent mark on the national park landscape — and through the andBeyond Africa Foundation’s wildlife protection and community development work across the broader Serengeti ecosystem.
