In the ancient oasis landscape of AlUla in northwestern Saudi Arabia, Banyan Tree AlUla occupies a different section of the Ashar Valley, within the same extraordinary context of Nabataean heritage, sandstone canyon formations, and the ongoing archaeological discovery that is transforming AlUla into one of the world’s most significant emerging heritage destinations. The 30 tented pool villas are designed in the Banyan Tree’s characteristic aesthetic of natural materials, generous space, and the spatial sensibility of Southeast Asian luxury adapted to the desert context, with the canyon walls and the ancient rock art visible from many of the villa positions providing an immediate connection to the millennia of human habitation that give the AlUla valley its cultural density. The private pools in each villa create a contrast of water and stone that is particularly evocative in the desert light.

Guided visits to Hegra, the Nabataean UNESCO World Heritage Site with its extraordinary carved tomb facades, Dadan, the capital of the ancient Lihyanite and Dedanite kingdoms, and the Elephant Rock natural formation are the primary cultural experiences available from the resort. The Banyan Tree Spa’s programme draws on the Arabian wellness traditions of oud, amber, and rose-water preparations alongside the brand’s Southeast Asian treatment heritage. The AlUla arts and cultural programme, managed by the Royal Commission for AlUla, includes the annual Tantora Festival’s constellation of concerts, installations, and cultural events held in the canyon landscape.
