On a private island in Noonu Atoll, Cheval Blanc Randheli occupies a coral island of exceptional lagoon clarity in one of the least-visited atolls of the Maldives, developed by LVMH with an aesthetic ambition that distinguishes it from both the barefoot-luxury and the conventional five-star resort typologies that dominate the Maldivian market. The 45 villas are designed with a visual language drawn from contemporary French and Italian design — lacquered surfaces, natural linen, bespoke furniture by French craftspeople — placed within an architecture of stilts and open verandahs that connects the interiors directly to the lagoon light and the sound of water. Each villa has a private pool, a butler, and a direct boat connection to the island’s social and dining spaces.

The Cheval Blanc Spa at Randheli incorporates 1947 Paris by Dior as its beauty anchor, one of the first spa partnerships of this kind in the Maldives, and the wellness programme reflects the LVMH philosophy of applying luxury maison standards to the spa experience as rigorously as to accommodation. Dining spans Asian and French-influenced cuisine at Carna by Dario Cecchini and a beach grill whose menu is calibrated to the ease of atoll life. The activities programme covers the full range of Maldivian marine exploration, including diving, whale shark excursions in season, and night kayaking in the bioluminescent lagoon.

Cheval Blanc Randheli’s design philosophy represents a deliberate departure from the natural materials and barefoot aesthetic dominant in Maldivian luxury, proposing instead that the precision and cultural ambition of the great French maisons can be transposed to a coral island without contradiction. The degree to which this works depends in part on the guest’s own orientation, but the quality of execution, the clarity of the design vision, and the remoteness of the atoll combine to produce something genuinely singular in the Indian Ocean.
