Four Seasons Chiang Mai

Among the rice paddies and teak forests of the Mae Rim valley north of Chiang Mai, Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai occupies a hillside above working paddies cultivated year-round by local farming families, with the resort’s own oxen, planting calendar, and harvest rituals embedded into the guest programme. The 98 pavilions and residences are built in northern Thai architectural style, with vaulted ceilings, carved teak panels, and outdoor living areas overlooking the terraced fields and the forested slopes of Doi Suthep-Pui National Park beyond. The paddies shift colour through the seasons, providing a living measure of the valley’s agricultural calendar that no amount of landscaping could replicate.

The resort’s cooking school offers intensive classes in Lanna regional cuisine using the kitchen garden and local market, and the daily rice-growing programme invites guests to transplant seedlings and work alongside the resident farming families. Elephant encounters at a neighbouring sanctuary, rafting on the Mae Ping River, and temple cycling tours round out the activity schedule. Sala Mae Rim focuses on northern Thai cooking and seasonal valley produce.
