On a private headland on Koh Samui’s northeastern coast overlooking the Gulf of Thailand, Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui occupies a hillside position whose 40 pool villas and residences cascade through tropical garden terraces towards a private beach below, with the Gulf’s island-scattered horizon visible from virtually every accommodation level. The resort entered particular cultural prominence when the White Lotus season two production identified it as the most convincing expression of the extreme wealth aesthetic that the series required, and the villa’s elevated position and the Gulf’s luminous quality gave the production a visual character that has since become associated internationally with a specific register of Thai island luxury. The Koh Samui coconut grove landscape and the traditional fishing village culture of the northeastern coast provide a more authentic context for the resort’s luxury proposition than the more commercially developed southern beach corridor.

The four restaurants and bars spanning contemporary Thai cuisine, Mediterranean grilling, and the beachfront seafood programme draw on the Gulf of Thailand’s extraordinary seafood — the fresh-landed grouper, snapper, and the royal Thai fruits that grow in abundance in the island’s interior orchards — in a culinary programme that balances international luxury hotel standards with the genuine flavour identity of the island’s culinary culture. The Koh Samui spa’s treatment programme draws on traditional Thai therapeutic massage and herbal compress methods. Koh Tao’s diving reefs, the Ang Thong Marine National Park’s archipelago, and the Chaweng night market provide the experiential context beyond the resort’s own facilities.

Four Seasons Koh Samui’s environmental approach to the headland’s coastal forest and the Gulf’s marine environment includes reef-friendly dive operations and coral monitoring, and the resort’s management of its steep-site development uses landscaping methods that minimise erosion into the beach and reef ecosystem below the terraced gardens.
