Cascading down on the hillside of Petite Anse on Mahé’s southwest coast, Four Seasons Resort Seychelles cascades down through tropical vegetation to a private beach of pale sand, the individual villas connected by a winding system of paths and funicular lifts that give the descent to the ocean a sense of gradual revelation. The 67 villas and suites each have their own private pool and open-air living areas, with the hillside position providing views across the bay and the surrounding granite boulder landscape that typifies this part of Mahé. The beach is reached via the resort’s own cable car, adding a particular quality of arrival to each journey between the hillside and the water.

Three restaurants serve the resort’s varied culinary landscape, from the contemporary Asian-influenced tasting menus at Kannel to the seafood grill at the beach and the terrace bar overlooking the bay. The spa occupies a dedicated pavilion embedded in the hillside garden, drawing on Creole botanical traditions and indigenous plant species from the surrounding landscape. Boat excursions to the marine national park at Anse Intendance, whale shark watching in season, and guided hikes through the Morne Seychellois forest are arranged through the resort’s activities desk.

Four Seasons Seychelles’ hillside architecture was designed to minimise its impact on the natural landscape, with the villas embedded into the contours of the slope rather than imposing on them. The resort’s coral monitoring partnership and its support for the Seychelles Islands Foundation’s endemic species programmes reflect a genuine engagement with the ecological systems on which the appeal of Petite Anse ultimately depends.
