Within the forest above Arenal Volcano in La Fortuna, Nayara Tented Camp occupies an exclusive position among the tall trees of the cloud forest that characterises the upper slopes of the Arenal Conservation Area, with 11 luxury tents positioned to capture the volcanic views through the canopy while remaining close to the primary forest’s ecological richness. Each tent has a private heated infinity pool cantilevered over the forest floor, an outdoor shower among the trees, and a sleeping platform designed to bring guests as close to the forest environment as possible while maintaining the level of comfort expected of a Nayara property. The volcanic views from the tent decks are at their most dramatic in the early morning when mist fills the valley below and the volcano’s profile emerges above it in sequence.

The camp’s all-inclusive programme covers meals, a daily selection of guided activities, and access to the shared facilities of the broader Nayara resort collection adjacent to the property. Forest walks with naturalist guides, night drives in the conservation area, guided birding in the cloud forest, and the Nayara Springs’ thermal hot springs complex are among the experiences available within the integrated resort programme. Dining draws on Costa Rican and international cuisine prepared with local produce from the farms of the northern lowlands.

Nayara Tented Camp’s position within the cloud forest gives it a conservation context of particular significance: the Arenal Conservation Area’s primary forest supports one of Central America’s most biodiverse bird and mammal assemblages, and the camp’s minimal footprint within the canopy — tents on platforms rather than permanent structures on cleared ground — reflects a serious attempt to engage with the forest as a guest rather than as a developer.
