The 98 rooms, villas, and suites were completely reconstructed following 2017’s Hurricane Irma, which destroyed the original Rock Resorts property on a site whose history as a conservation-minded resort dates to the Rockefeller family’s development of the bay in 1964 as one of the Caribbean’s first explicitly eco-sensitive luxury properties. The rebuilt resort honours this conservation heritage in its architecture, landscaping, and its management of the bay’s marine environment.

The culinary programme at The Pavilion restaurant draws on the extraordinary seafood of the BVI waters — the spiny lobster, the snapper, and the conch preparations that define Caribbean coastal cooking — alongside the tropical fruits and vegetables of the Virgin Islands’ agricultural tradition in a menu that engages genuinely with the specific food culture of this corner of the Caribbean rather than importing a generic island resort cuisine. Sailing excursions to the Baths — Virgin Gorda’s most celebrated natural attraction, a geological formation of house-sized granite boulders and tidal pools — snorkelling on the Fallen Jerusalem reef, and the sailing culture of the North Sound’s protected anchorage provide the primary water-based activities. Rosewood Little Dix Bay’s conservation heritage, extending from the Rockefeller era’s original commitment to low-density development and reef protection, has been maintained through successive changes of management and the recent post-hurricane reconstruction, giving the resort a continuity of environmental stewardship that represents one of the longest-running examples of conservation-conscious luxury resort management in the Caribbean.
