Within the Sabi Sand Game Reserve alongside Ebony Lodge, Singita Boulders Lodge occupies a position on the same section of the Sand River with an aesthetic that provides a distinct alternative to Ebony’s more contemporary design: Boulders’ architecture takes its inspiration from the granite outcrops that characterise this section of the Sabi Sand’s terrain, using the same pale stone, dark wood, and large-format textures that the boulders themselves provide to create suites of considerable spatial drama. The twelve suites are positioned at river level rather than elevated above it, giving the accommodation a ground-level relationship with the Sand River’s wildlife corridor that produces a different quality of immediacy from Ebony’s elevated decks. The shared wildlife experience across both Singita lodges in the Sabi Sand benefits from traversal agreements that give access to a large combined territory.
