On the same forested slopes as Singita Kwitonda Lodge, Singita Kataza House is an exclusive-use villa on the park boundary accommodating up to eight guests with a dedicated guide, tracker, and chef in a residential format that gives the group complete flexibility over the gorilla trekking programme and the broader Virunga experience. The five suites of the villa are arranged in a cluster of stone buildings whose design echoes Kwitonda Lodge’s volcanic stone and timber aesthetic at a more domestic and intimate scale, with a private living room, outdoor terrace, and garden that give the group a base from which to approach the gorilla tracking with the unhurried pace that a private programme allows. The villa’s proximity to the national park boundary means that forest birds, golden monkeys, and occasionally buffalos move through the garden during the early morning hours.

The gorilla trekking programme for Kataza House guests benefits from the dedicated guide and tracker’s undivided attention and the group’s ability to select tracking days, time of departure, and specific family preferences within the permit system’s constraints without coordinating with other guests. The golden monkey habituation programme, the traditional dance performances of the Intore cultural tradition, and the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund’s research centre visits in Musanze are among the cultural and conservation experiences available from the villa’s position. The private chef prepares Rwandan and international menus calibrated to the group’s preferences, with produce sourced from the agricultural communities of the Virunga foothills.

Singita Kataza House’s exclusive-use model within Kwitonda’s conservation framework gives its guests the most personalised available experience of the Virunga gorilla trekking while contributing the same per-guest conservation and community revenue as the shared lodge programme, reflecting Singita’s view that conservation funding and guest experience quality are mutually reinforcing rather than competitive priorities.
