Singita Lebombo Lodge

Within Kruger National Park on a private concession above the Lebombo mountain ridge in the northeastern section of the park, Singita Lebombo Lodge occupies one of the most geographically distinctive positions available in southern Africa: a lodge cantilevered above a gorge on the N’wanetsi river in a section of the park that is drier, more remote, and less visited than the central and southern Kruger, with the Lebombo mountains providing a dramatic ridgeline backdrop and the N’wanetsi’s concentrated game activity providing a wildlife intensity in a landscape of greater spatial and ecological complexity than the flatter thornveld further south. The fifteen suites and the two-bedroom villa are designed in Singita’s most contemporary architectural language, with glass and steel elements that reflect the dramatic landscape rather than attempting to blend into it.

The game experience in the northeastern Kruger is distinct from the broader Sabi Sand experience: the remoteness of the Lebombo section, the different vegetation types of the Lebombo monocline, and the specific wildlife populations that use the N’wanetsi river system — the large elephant herds, the nyala antelope of the watercourse thickets, and the cheetah that hunt the open grasslands of this section — give the programme a character that experienced safari travellers specifically seek when they want to experience Kruger beyond the more heavily visited central and southern zones. Walking safaris in the national park under the guidance of Kruger’s senior Trails Rangers are among the most demanding and rewarding wildlife walking experiences in Africa.

Singita Lebombo contributes to the Singita Lowveld Trust’s operations within the national park concession, including the Singita Community Development Trust’s investment in the communities surrounding the Kruger’s northeastern boundary, where the lodge’s revenue supports educational and enterprise programmes in a region with comparatively limited economic development.
